Free RACI matrix generator

Type your roles and tasks, then click cells to assign R, A, C or I. Every row is checked against the rules; export to Excel, print it or share it with a link. No sign-up, and your data stays in your browser.

  • RResponsible: the person or role who does the work
  • AAccountable: owns the result; exactly one per task
  • CConsulted: asked for input beforehand
  • IInformed: kept up to date afterwards

Use A/R when one role both does and approves the task. Each click moves the cell to the next letter.

What is a RACI matrix?

A RACI matrix is a responsibility chart that shows, for every task in a process, who does the work (R), who approves it (A), who is consulted (C) and who is informed (I). Tasks are rows and roles are columns. It is the simplest way to end the “who was supposed to do this?” question in a team.

Rules of a good RACI matrix

  • Every task needs exactly one Accountable (A); two approvers blur ownership.
  • Every task needs at least one Responsible (R).
  • Keep Consulted (C) to a minimum; every C slows the task down.
  • If a role's column is empty, ask whether it belongs in the process; if it has too many Rs, review the workload.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RACI and RASCI?

RASCI adds a Support role to RACI. Four letters are enough for most teams; you can record supporters as Consulted (C).

Can a task have two Accountables?

It should not. With two approvers it is unclear who has the final say; the tool flags such rows in red.

Where is my matrix saved?

Only in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. The share link carries the matrix inside the address.

How do I turn the matrix into a process?

The “Open as a process in TACTIX” button turns roles into swimlanes and tasks into steps, keeping the RACI assignments. Then add dates, owners and checklists to the steps.
